Each year the City of Detroit celebrates Halloween in the D. This family-friendly celebration includes a host of Halloween activities at police precincts, recreation centers and fire stations. Over 30,000 Detroit youth and their families take part in activities with over 1million pieces of candy distributed. We also recognize the contributions of residents that serve year-round as volunteers with their block clubs, community organizations and area radio patrols in each City Council district.
From the Thriller Flash Mob that kicked off the excitement to our citywide Trunk-or-Treat locations, this year’s Halloween in the D brought thousands of Detroit families together for safe, fun, and memorable holiday experiences.
Thanks to the support of our partners, sponsors, and the amazing volunteers, we were able to host events across neighborhoods, parks, rec centers, and city facilities—ensuring Detroit kids had a joyful and safe Halloween.
Citywide Trunk-or-Treats serving families across all districts
Partnered with local dance program and youth program for an epic Thriller Flash Mob & themed entertainment
Free candy and activities for youth
Community partners, local businesses, and recreation centers coming together
Dedicated volunteers helping create a safe, welcoming environment
A huge thank you to our sponsors and community partners for making this possible, and to every volunteer who donated their time, energy, and Halloween spirit!
Your commitment helps keep this tradition strong.

We’re already looking forward to next year! Check back soon for photos, recap videos, and updates on upcoming City of Detroit community events.
