Complete Streets prioritizes people, by enhancing how our streets serve everyone, regardless of age or ability. It shapes the planning, design, operation, and maintenance of our streets to accommodate walkers, cyclists, drivers, and transit users. Our goal is to create a transportation system that adapts to current and future needs, invests in underserved areas, and improves high-crash zones to save lives.
In 2022, the Department of Public Works focused on the Streets for People Transportation Plan. The plan will be updated every 5 years and will ensure that more neighborhoods benefit from consistent street designs that are safe and comfortable for all users, all designed using Complete Streets principles and standards.

Complete Streets focuses on making streets safer and more accessible for everyone. We aim to create a transportation system that adapts to current and future needs, invests in underserved areas, and improves high-crash zones. Since 2022, we’ve proudly received three grants through the “Safe Streets & Roads for All” Federal grant program.
The goal of achieving a streetscape is to create vibrant corridors where local businesses can thrive and where people feel safe and welcomed. The improvements will better encourage all forms of transportation including walking, biking, riding transit and taking a car.
