Williams Playground

 

Williams Playfield is an 8.85 acre neighborhood park connected to the Joseph Walker Williams Recreation Center which is located at 8431 Rosa Parks Blvd. in District 5 in Detroit. Serving District 5, this park is part of the historic Virginia Park neighborhood. The park features amenities including a picnic shelter, play area and splash pad.

PARK IMPROVEMENT PROJECT

Improvements to Williams Playfield were identified as Phase 2 priorities based on the analysis completed for our Parks & Recreation Strategies Plan (PSRP). The City has identified funding to improve the outdoor play area and space surrounding it.

PAST UPDATES

March 2025 Community Engagement:

On March 6, 2025, Parks & Recreation met with residents on Zoom to discuss two state grant applications for developing inclusive play spaces, one for Williams Park and one for Clemente Park. 

March 2024 Community Engagement:

On March 21, 2024, Parks & Recreation met with residents about upcoming improvements to Williams Park. Residents shared what amenities they would like to see in the park updates.
