Detroit Regional Training Center

      Dedicated to Walter P. Harris in 2016, the Detroit Regional Training Center is located at 10200 Erwin Detroit, Michigan 48204. Under the command of Chief Alfie Green and Staff, the Detroit Regional Training Center is responsibility for New Recruit Training, In-Service Training, Emergency Vehicle Operators Course, Emergency Medical Technician Training, Live Fire Training, Confined Space and much more.

      The Detroit Regional Training Center offers the latest in technology and training props, this facility is capable of hosting a large variety of training to ensure the proficiency of the Fire and EMS professionals that protect the citizens of Detroit.  

     The Regional Training Center classroom environment is ideally suited for class lectures and training. We offer 11 classrooms, 1 EMS Skills Lab and an Outdoor Training Section. Each classroom provides the perfect combination of a clean comfortable environment and the latest in electronic audio-visual equipment and training aids.

EMS Skills Lab

The Detroit Fire Department EMS Skills Lab has the equipment to handle all EMS Training from MFR to Paramedic. We have life like EMS mannequins to simulate medical emergencies our employees will see on medical scenes. We have all the equipment to meet the standards of the NREMT and the State of Michigan. This includes: Cardiac Monitors, Trauma stabilization equipment, simulated medications, and advanced airway devices. 

We strive to stay up-to-date in our teaching practices and meet student needs in a variety of ways. The Detroit Fire Department EMS skills lab accomplishes this through Modern teaching tools to create life-like scenarios that will prepare our students to handle emergencies. 
 

Outdoor Training Section 
We offer a diverse array of training props, equipment, and buildings for hands-on skills training. Firefighters get first-hand firefighting and rescue experience in every aspect of fire/rescue operations in a safe and supervised setting.
We Offer: Automobile Live Fire Trainer, BLEVE Fire Trainer, FireVent Mobile Ventilation Trainer, HAZMAT Scenario Trainer, Forcible Entry Simulator, Flashover Chamber and SCBA Confidence Trailer 

Cafeteria
The training facility offers a cafeteria/break area. The cafeteria can accommodate over 50 people. Amenities include snack machines, cold drinks, refrigerator, microwave oven, sink, and water cooler. 

All evolutions on the training center grounds must be reserved and are granted on a first-come, first-served basis.
