Rory Gamble, a former Ford factory worker, served as acting president of the United Auto Workers from November 2019 until his mid-2021 retirement after almost 50 years as a union member.

Police Commissioner Gamble joined the Board in November 2023 following City Council’s confirmation of his mayoral appointment to a five-year term.
